Guangzhou Flight and Rail Expansion Opens Huizhou Coastal Weddings
Guangdong province is enhancing access to Huizhou’s rugged coastline, including Xiao’aoshan Beach. New state planning focuses on ecological tourism, supported by increased flights from Guangzhou and expanded high-speed rail links. This development offers new destination wedding opportunities in a distinct natural setting.
Huizhou Coastline Designated for Ecological Tourism
State planners have included Xiao’aoshan Beach, a rocky coastal area in Bijia Village, Huidong County, within the strategic Renping Peninsula International Tourism Island development plan. This change was released in official planning instructions by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Transportation and the Huizhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports. The new state travel policy shifts focus from high-density, commercial sand resorts. Instead, it prioritizes ecological and geological tourism along China's southern coastal border. This highlights a move towards preserving natural marine ecosystems.
Enhanced International and Domestic Connectivity
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) approved more China Southern Airlines flights from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) to London Heathrow (LHR). During the peak season, from 1 July to 30 September, direct flights between Guangzhou and London will double from 10 to 20 weekly services. This air expansion complements multi-modal ground transit options. The Guangzhou-Shanwei high-speed rail and National Highway G228 provide additional domestic access. These combined transport networks offer broad international and domestic travel options to previously remote coastal areas.
A Distinct Coastal Setting for Celebrations
Xiao’aoshan Beach, located on the Renping Peninsula’s southwestern coastline, presents a distinct geological profile. State geological surveys confirm that while neighboring bays feature smooth sand bars, Xiao’aoshan and Bijia Cove are defined by rugged, rocky formations. This unique landscape offers a natural backdrop for events. The area is close to the Huidong Sea Turtle National Nature Reserve, which requires ecological conservation. It is also near the Ming-dynasty Pinghai Ancient City Heritage Site, adding cultural significance. This shows a balance between tourism development and environmental protection.
